Say whut?

Fuck hip hop?
We breathe hip hop!!
Nice painting anyways ;)

Back in Parets

I was at the hip hop event ”Violence against women” in Parets last Saturday and I just had to check it out. There were 4 female groups there and live graffiti as well.

The venue was a sport arena, pretty big to hold a solid crowd of people, even though it wasn’t crowded at all. Such a shame!!

On stage:

Mai
Dlux
Indie
Shuga

All talented women! The sound was terrific (Is there anywhere in Barcelona where you are allowed to pump music this loud??) and I think I like spanish female rap better than spanish male rap. Yapp!

The only funny thing is that the voices in spanish female rap sounds like a mans voice, really low, and then they sing the sweet tunes in the refrain, like birds. The contrast is funny!!

So please explain to me the reason for the lack of people! Was it too far away from town or the fast that it was only girls acting or is hip hop really dead in Barcelona. Please tell me it isn’t so!!!!!!!!!

Let's go hard

Hello everyone!

The Streets concert was the bomb shit!
I'm super glad i went, I'm super sad about not making it to the Capleton show but I'm still super glad i got to see Mike Skinner in action.
The show was delayed but once it got started there was good energy all around.
Muchas gracias!

Another thing that has happened since last; i got my baby yesterday!

Her name is Vestax and she will probably be my substitute for a boyfriend from now on. My scratching days are just getting started... so watch out now!

Geezer's Need Excitement

Happy B-Day, Sarita!

Today is a very special day, it is Sarinis b-day and we are celebrating this in true Shawarma spirit by making falafel (no meet for us), having cake and going to see The Streets, live in concert at Razzmatazz.

Unfortunately, Capleton is putting up a show about an hour later across town. My plan is to run like the wind from The Streets concert to the Capleton show, is that far optimistic?

I'll let you know how it goes, if i make it to both or not, if they blow me away. If i walk out of The Streets' concert with a bigger crush on Mike Skinner, than the one i already have.

I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED!

I want to give a big shout out to Cachaça Crew and Dj Babão and another big shout out to Charliebwoy for thursday night. I had alot of fun, the music was sick, the concert was great and the dancing was on.

There could have been more people at the venue and it got me thinking about what some people were telling us at the beginning of making this project, that it is impossible to create an event that would be more than 2 stops away from Placa Catalunya, where you have to pay to get in. Fuck that shit, i'm not doing this for the ones who came for the free shots (even tough that would be nice for some), i'm really doing this for myself, because i really miss good hip hop in a "going out" kind of way.
I have so much love that you will see more of this in a month!

Be ready!

HIP HOP started out in da hood!!

If we had known that the hip hop culture was alive outside of Barcelona, we would have spent every weekend in da hood!!!

Last Sunday we caught the train to Parets de Vallés with only a flyer invitation and a phone number to a friend of a friend. SO excited we found our way to Riera de Parets by following some people and base from the music spined by DJ Keal.

There were people in all different ages, to few girls though (!!), painting the 2 long walls of the Riera. We took a walk in the sun (lovely day!!), watching the works, talking to people, making new friends and telling people about Shawarma guzz.

Ended up in a car with 3 graffiti guys, driving us to another little suburb, Cerdanyola, to another hip hop jam with concerts and some graffiti pieces outside. Made sure that everyone had our flyer before catching the train back to Barcelona after a whole day out of town.

Can’t wait till next weekend!!!

Today is the day - Hip hop all the way!

Things are going down tonight!

The inaguration of Shawarma guzz is on at midnight and we are super ready to bring good hip hop to all of y'all.
It has been alot of hard work (sweat and tears, no blood) and now we are finally here.. Can't wait to see you people on the floor.

The concert starts at 01.30 so don't be late!
